With more than 25 years of research experience on successfully married couples and their own 41 years of successful marriage, the Doctors know what makes marriage and relationships work. From their hundreds of interviews with happily married couples, representing more than 15,000 years of marriage, they've discovered the seven pervasive characteristics present in all successful marriages.

As award winning authors and professional speakers, the Doctors have received some 60 local, state, and national awards. Dr. Charles Schmitz has been a highly successful faculty member and administrator in higher education for 38 years. He is Dean of the College of Education and Professor of Counseling and Family Therapy at the University of Missouri-St. Louis.  Dr. Elizabeth Schmitz, a retired former educator, is President of Successful Marriage Reflections, LLC.
